An Lón Mór/ Big Lunch Trí mheán na Gaeilge

D'éirigh go geal le Lón Mór Dheireadh Fómhair Chaisleán Uidhilín. Bhuail níos mó ná céad dhuine isteach fá choinne tae/caife, scóna agus comhrá. Ach ar barr sin ar an Satharn seo chaite, bhí damhsóirí ann ón Scoil Damhsa Brennan, Miskelly, McCormick agus Gallagher in Iúr Cinn Trá. Le na chois sin bhí 13 ball sóisearch de Chomhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (Caisleán Nua) ag seinniúint leo. Bhí coirnéal ceardaíochta ann a bhí eagraithe le tacaíocht ó Ghlór na nGael, Teanga an Tí.

Ba mhaith le Glór Uachtar Tíre ár mbuíochas a thabhairt do ChLG Chaisleán Uidhilín as an Lón mór a eagrú linn chomh maith le CCÉ as an cheol galánta agus an Eden Project agus Down Rural Community Network as tacaíocht le haghaidh an lae. Agus buíochas ó bhun ár gcroíthe do chuile duine a bhí ag cuidiú go deonach chun cinntiú gur imeacht ar leith a bhí ann.

This month’s Lón Mór/ Big Lunch was a great success. Well over a hundred people popped in for a cup of tea/coffee, scone and comhrá/ or chat. But this month they got a lot more than that. Those who attended were treated to a fantastic set of Irish dances, provided by young award winning local dancers from the Brennan, Miskelly, McCormick and Gallagher School of Irish Dancing, Newry. Thirteen junior members of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (Newcastle branch) provided a delightful backdrop of traditional music. The gathering had a busy crafts corner for young children which was kindly provided by Glór na nGael/ Teanga an Tí. The tea/coffee and scones were served by a host of local people who all very kindly volunteered creating a wonderful atmosphere and a wholly successful event! An Lón Mór/ Big Lunch was presented by a cluster of local community groups, Glór Uachtar Tíre, Castlewellan GAA, which hosted the event and CCÉ (Newcastle) which provided entertainment. The day was very generously supported by The Eden Project and Down Rural Community Network. The next Lón Mór/Big Lunch will be held in Castlewellan GAA Club in December. Bígí linn ansin/ Be sure and come along then. Contact gloruachtartire@hotmail.co.uk for more information.
