Cracker Christmas Fair: Aonach Nollag Den Scoth

Ba iontach an lá a bhí ag páistí agus daoine fasta Uachtar Tíre ar an Domhnach. Bhí Aonach Nollag eagraithe ag Glór Uachtar Tíre in san Óstan Burrendale agus d’éirigh go geall leis.

Thug Daidí na Nollag agus Síofra beag s’aige cuairt ar an Aonach agus bhí na páistí chomh sásta le buaileadh leis agus a chur in iúl dó an rud atá siad ag iarraidh don Nollaig trí mheán na Gaeilge.

Chomh maith le Fochla Daidí na Nollag, bhí stallaí, soláistí agus tábla ceardaíochta ann. Bhí dhá stalla ag Glór Uachtar Tíre ag díol tairgí le Gaeilge. Bhí Joleen Cunningham ó Manger Chez Vous ag díol sraith milseoga. Bhí tairiscint ar leith le fáil ar rogha leathan leabhair Gaeilge ó Sheán Mac Labhraí as An Mangaire Siúlach. Bhí na bandaí gruaige díolta ag Chantal McKibben iomlán gleoite ar fad. Bhí ealaín den scoth agus tairgí cniotáilte ar fáil ó Caroline Williamson fosta. Bhí lúchair orainn go raibh muid ábalta comhoibriú a dhéanamh le daoine áitiúla chomh maith le daoine as ceantair eile.

Ba í Ceithleann ó Teanga Tí: Glór na nGael a bhí i mbun an tábla ceardaíochta. Thaitin sé go mór leis na páistí agus na sárphictiúir a bhí déanta acu!

Gabhann muid ár mbuíochas le Glór na nGael, Óstán Burendale, na stallaí ar fad, ár gcuiditheoirí – Tony O’Prey, Frainc Mac Cionnaith, Blaine McCartney, Éimear Duggan, Saoirse Hastings, Erin Stuart agus cuid mhaith daoine eile a bhí ag cuidiú linn roimh ré. Dar ndóigh, caithfidh muid buíochas a ghabáil le Daidí na Nollag agus Síofra beag s’aige chun buaileadh isteach linn, go háirithe, nuair atá sé chomh gnóthach ag an am seo den bhliain.

Bhí thar a bheith céad páiste i láthair ag an Aonach Nollag. Tá súil againn go raibh lá speisialta acu ar fad. Nollaig shona daoibh go léir!

The children from the area enjoyed a wonderful day on Sunday. Glór Uachtar Tíre had organised a Christmas Fair in the Burrendale Hotel and the event was a remarkable success.

Santa and his little elf came to visit for the day and the children were ecstatic to meet him and tell him what they wanted for Christmas through the medium of Irish.

As well as Santa’s Grotto, there were stalls, refreshments, and a crafts table. Glór Uachtar Tíre had two stalls, selling Irish language products. Joleen Cunningham from Manger Chez Vous had a wide variety of desserts and sweet treats available to purchase. There was a vast selection of Irish language books to be bought from Séan Mac Labhraí of An Mangaire Siúlach. Chantal McKibben had beautiful hairbands and hair pieces sold. Caroline Williamson sold beautiful art pieces as well as knitted products. We were delighted to be working in partnership with so many local people as well as those who came from afar.

Ceithleann from Teanga Tí: Glór na nGael oversaw our crafts table. The children thoroughly enjoyed the crafts and what amazing pictures they made!

We would like to thank Glór na n Gael, The Burrendale Hotel, our stalls, our helpers on the day – Tony O’Prey, Frainc Mac Cionnaith, Blaine McCartney, Éimear Duggan, Saoirse Hastings, Erin Stuart and others who helped us prepare beforehand. Of course, we must thank Santa and his little elf for taking the time to meet the children, especially, at his busiest time of the year.

There were almost one hundred children in attendance at the Christmas Fair. We hope you all had a special day. Happy Christmas to all!
